Sync with Google allows you to store your Xiaomi contacts in your email account. But nevertheless, MIUI gives you the option to save your contacts in other locations such as your Mi account, the device’s internal storage and even on the SIM card.
In the past it was common to save the contacts on the SIM card so that you could keep them in case the device is damaged. So, if you want to be able to safeguard your contacts, you can always store them on the SIM. How? Coming up next, we tell you.
So you can save contacts on the SIM of your Xiaomi
When we use a Xiaomi mobile for the first time, it prompts us to set a default contact storage. However, it is possible to save new contacts in other locations. To get new contacts stored on the SIM card, just follow these steps:
- Enter the Keyboard.
- Enter the phone number you want to add.
- Press “Create new contact.”
- Then the tab “Add to contacts.” The default storage location appears in this section.
- Then, in the section “Keep in”, pull down the menu and select “SIM.”
- To finish, press “Keep.”
In this way, all the contacts you save from now on will be stored on the SIM card. If you have more than one SIM card, make sure to check which is the default SIM to store your contacts.
How to move existing contacts
If you want to move an already created contact to the SIM, you must enter “contacts,” select the contact you want to move location and press the icon with the three vertical dots which is in the upper right corner.
Then, from the dropdown menu, select “Move to another account.” In this way, the contact will be sent to the device. Afterwards, you must locate contact in device storage and repeat the above procedure.
After pressing “Move to another account” from the device storage, the system will give you the option to move the contact to the SIM card. This process can be tedious, since can only be done with one contact at a time.
Also, if Google sync is active, the system will send the contact again, from the device storage, to the email account. Therefore it is advisable to create the contact from scratch and save it on the SIM.
